WestJet discount

Set up hotel and ride sharing with other attendees!

Postby MelMuff » Thu May 31, 2012 9:49 am

I do like the 10% WestJet discount but found one flaw with it. For the fun of it, I called to get a quote but found out that the discount does not apply to seat sales. I thought it did so that is a bit dissapointing. So anyone who is planning on using the code, keep in mind that it only applies to refular airfare.

Hi MelMuff,

Most discounts offered in Canada, especially with airlines, are not valid with cross promotions. :(
If you want more information on it, ask WestJet for a copy of their Terms and Conditions so that you're more aware of how and where the discount can be used.

If you have questions, please let me know.
And I have my eyes peeled for any deals from the EastCoast to the WestCoast!

Hey Kimberly-Anne! I finally bought my flight. I came up with a clever idea but sorry I didn't think of it sooner. I managed to get a credit limit increase on my Sears card since I had no room on my credit cards. So I used my Sears card to purchase the airfare. I booked it on June 4 because I wanted to take advantage of the seat sale before it ended the same day. I do prefer WestJet but I ended up going with Air Canada instead as they had better times that fit my schedule. I am flying out of Montreal to Vancouver then from Vancouver to Ottawa for the return flight. It almost didn't happen though. I was having trouble booking online with the travel insurance and had to call Sears instead. The closest was closed for renovations and refused to help me out. So then I started calling other locations in Montreal and Toronto but either again no one would help me. Finally one in Toronto answered my prayers and I got everything settled around 9 PM. Almost cut it close too as they would soon close for the day. So now all I have to do is find a really really cheap place to stay and buy my convention pass. I was hoping to buy a VIP pass but sadly I learned that they sold out a few days ago. Didn't have the money to buy one now anyway so not much I could do about it. However, I will keep saving for the general 3 day pass and should be able one soon. I will also keep my eyes peeled just in case somene decides to resell their VIP pass because I still want one of those desparately. As for my flight, a round trip will cost $730, including all fees and insurance. That is a lot of money but I initially did save $100. The base price for my flight with the seat sale was $624 and without the seat sale, it is $730.

Hey Melmuff!

That is AWESOME news! Congratulations on finding a flight that is super cheap!
I remember I had to go a meeting in Toronto from Vancouver, and I remember booking it at around $800 - round trip. Luckily I wasn't paying for it, but you certainly got an amazing deal! Congrats! :)

There are still some things you'll need to consider when making your trip out here. Just things to think about:
How much are you going to spend in the vendors room?
Where are you going to eat? (unless you're not going to eat, which is bad for your health!)
How are you going to get the convention center from YVR?

May I recommend you visit my post:

Other than that, you're pretty much ready to go!

If you encounter any problems during your visit here in Vancouver, please don't hestitate to walk on by to the Info Booth. I'll even be there and we can both say hi to each other! We'll give you recommendations where to eat, where to shop, and other tips or advice you need.

Can't wait to see you in August! It's gonna be a blast!
