Finally booked a hotel

Set up hotel and ride sharing with other attendees!

Yay! I finally booked my hotel. I decided to go with the Kingston Hotel. I stayed there 2 years ago for the Olympics. I had looked into hotels too late and all the hotels downtown seem to be booked but by some miracle though, I found the Kingston Hotel, which still had a few rooms left. So I know from experience that they are a good budget hotel. The location is perfect because it's close to everything downtown and the staff are friendly. I remember when it was the gold medal hockey game and even though I wanted to leave early, my sister and brother-in-law, got up too late and every bar or place with a TV was booked solid. So with no where to go, we headed back to the hotel but once we got back, we noticed a staff member was watching the game in the hotel lobby. We asked if we could join them and they let us. Right across the street was a BBQ so that supplied our food and drinks and we made our own party and then I remember sitting there when Sidney scored that goal. :D

So in the end, I booked a private bedroom with a 3/4 double bed and a shared bathroom. I am also getting a discount because of construction so I will only have to pay $65 a night before taxes. However, to save more money, I am looking for a roomie. Please reply or PM me if interested. You must also be female. Sorry but I am also female and not comfortable sharing a room with a guy.

If you are also on a budget, the Kingston Hotel might be good for you too. There are no TVs in the room with shared bathrooms but there is one in the lobby. I was also told that rooms with private bathrooms do include TVs in them but the going rate is $125 a night.

Congratulation on finding a reasonable budget hotel... I know it's hard to book a room when AR is around the corner! Best wishes on finding a roommate. :)

I did look into hostels too and couch surfing like someone else suggested and they were cheaper but only one hostel had good reviews from Trip Advisor and it was much further away. And the reviews on other budget hotels were so so or they were also further away so I decided to go with experience. Kingston Hotel is only a few blocks away from the Vancouver Convention Centre so it's still within walking distance and I liked the hotel the last time I stayed there. :)

Plus, I think I got my finances in order and can afford it now too.

Hey MelMuff. Just curious and all but how would the split cost be if you had a roommate sharing the room with you?

Ah! Thanks for asking that. So I inquired with the hotel and got the tax amount. After taxes, it comes to $74 so the split between 2 people would be $37 a night.

TY :)

My credit card also offered me a limit increase this week and I took it. Now I have the money for my hotel for Montreal and Vancouver and no longer have to worry about it. I might also not need a roomie anymore too. But this is the third time it's happened. My CC offered me an increase just in the nick of time literally. I am planning on buying tickets for the Distant World Final Fantasy concert in Montreal but wasn't sure at first how I was going to do it. I don't get paid until tomorrow and tickets go on sale the same day. Making a payment on my CC would take the entire weekend so I wouldn't have been able ot buy the tickets until Monday but now I don't have to worry about doing that. Now I get good seats for my sister and I as we are both big FF fans. We luv all the FF games. Dragon Warrior too from the NES days in the 1980s. :D

Hey, also a bit interested- would be nice to stay with others. I am looking at hostels (again though, best if there are others at least in the same building). How many roommates can stay in the room with you? Is it just two or can there be three? I'm only by myself, just wondering in case there are others who still need a place.
