He uses EVA foam sheets, which is craft foam, but for bigger pieces you can look for rolls of it or use the larger interlocking floor mat pieces.

And now for something I've been working on.
Gonna be test building it this weekend. I hope I managed to get the scale correct

My avatar is a photo that I took of the 1:1 scale rx-78 they had in Shizuoka. I believe it's been moved back to Odaiba again? I really love gundams so to have a real life gundam as an avatar is pretty sweet.

I've already run into scaling problem, seeing as the original 3d file was built around a head that hadn't been accurately scaled. It's about 20% too big and I'll post photos of the test build when I'm done.

Anyway, here's a quick update for my costume: a Space Marine purity seal. You might notice something familiar in the inscriptions...

I'm building my 3d files in Maya and I export the the obj into Pepakura Designer to unfold it.

Definitely too big. I'll have to build a harness of some sort as well to get it to stay in place after I resize it.

I'm glad to see a couple other Rarity cosplayers.

I've ordered all of my stuff for my Rarity cosplay, waiting for it to come in the mail!
After that, I just need to finish making the dress.

Anyway, here are a some more progress pics for my Space Marine costume. Here's a whole bunch of purity seals I made for my armor (a bit smaller than the one I posted previously). There's some My Little Pony lyrics around there somewhere...

I would love to take a picture with you. I got the wig from Good 'ol eBay from the user mcyan_hk.
As of yesterday, I got everything for my cosplay ordered. It's probably going to arrive late this month. Sooo stoked!

Gah. Just learned that my cousin is getting married the same weekend as AR so I won't be making it out this year. I'll still see about finishing the gundam head and maybe lending it to one of my friends that are going. Just because I can't make it to the con doesn't mean my costume can't.
