**Official** The Starlight Masquerade Ball - Updated

Discuss your costumes, post pictures, or just talk about cosplay!

Postby Aurekat » Thu Apr 26, 2012 10:23 pm

Hi everyone. My name is Katina. I will be in charge of The Starlight Masquerade Ball.

Date: FRIDAY
Time: 8:30pm-10:30pm
Location: Main Event - Ballroom A

Attendees of all ages are welcome

Music: I am open to hearing ideas to build the musical list.
Some have given me a lot of beautiful waltz music, some people have requested that there be some gentle love songs that they can dance to without knowing how to waltz. I will select a few to mix in with the waltz. Do not worry, there will be good music, that I hope everyone will enjoy. :)

The Starlight Masquerade Ball is in honor of the Sailor Moon Anniversary.Image

Clothing

It's a chance for people to dress up and have an elegant night and have fun.
Dress to Impress ;)
I know some of you are looking forward to dusting off your ballgowns, tuxedos, etc and I can't wait as well!

Cosplay is accepted and encouraged, but must still be considered casual formal to semi-formal for entry. Though we please ask that there be no revealing costumes. If you have questions to if your cosplay would be ok, just give me an e-mail and I can let you know :)
katina@animerevolution.ca

For the cosplay - Lolita, some maid costumes, School uniforms - skirt limit on how short it can be - No higher than mid thigh. No higher!

* For those wondering what Casual formal means*

Menswear

For men includes dress trousers—this includes chinos—a long-sleeve dress shirt (tie optional), leather loafers or dressy slip-ons, dress socks, a belt, and, if appropriate, a sport coat or blazer.

Womenswear

For women, it consists of slacks or a skirt (cannot go above mid thigh), a blouse, a fashionable belt, a dress jacket, coordinated to the outfit, hosiery or socks with boots, flats (leather, suede, or fabric), high-heel or mid-heel shoes.

Remember it's a masquerade ball so be creative but tasteful!

Ethnic formal wear is allowed. (Kimonos, etc.)

Not Allowed - Ripped Jeans, Jeans, Bikinis, Hoodies, See through clothing, sports clothing and intentionally ripped clothing.

Anime Revolution Starlight Masquerade Staff reserve the right to make any final determination on attire at any time during the ball.

Masks

One rule is everyone who attends must wear a mask.

Masks are required to enter the Masquerade Ball. If you do not have a mask, there will be a very limited number of masks at the door for distribution, so please plan ahead.

Since some people are curious as to what types of masks are allowed. Masks can be face-painted masks, ImageImage
full-face, traditional, Image
Venetian (stick-mounted)Image
and if you are really crafty and wear glasses, figure a way out on how to attach the mask to your glasses to make them work for you. If you have questions e-mail katina@animerevolution.ca

These type of masks are not Permitted; Helmets, ski-masks, and sunglasses.

Props/Weapons/Headgear

Another rule - No WINGS, headgear or props, weapons or anything that might take up too much space. Thanks :)

Got to love the Romeo x Juliet masquerade ball. ;)

I'm glad this is happening but..... If it's on Saturday, then you would have to either leave and come back wearing your masquerade clothes or bring your masquerade gear with you all day. Thursdays were always the easiest because there was no convention to get in the way of preparing for the ball. I'm sure if people want to go they'll find a way though.
