Also, use folders so you don't have to scroll as much in your layers panel. I personally try to put multiple things on layers so my things are cleaner. And name them. That might help. I kept losing the eyebrows on one of my drawings so I named the layer "EYEBROWS ARE RIGHT HERE DUMBASS". It helped.

Lol I'm used to sai and always always forget that the PS bg layer is locked and always end up doing my lineart on bg layer I get sooo annoyed hahaha
and...wow a layer just for eyebrows! I never name my layers so my stuff gets lost all the time......:p
Though I think I'll try...since I like your naming methods lolol

Well it wasn't just for the eyebrows. If I remember rightly, it was his hair, his eyebrows, his eyelashes, and MAYBE his fingernail-claws, I can't really remember. I group things so that I don't end up with AS many layers. Group things depending on how they'd be layered on it I guess.
(I use SAI as well... really miss that locking feature. :C)

It's really useful for making sure you don't color on your lineart layer. Since it makes it so you can't do anything on the layer. Quite handy if you're a derp like me and very often switch between layers.
