Glomping Room!

Discussion about, promotion for, and general discussion of events

Postby DJ YUKKURi » Tue Jun 26, 2012 11:30 pm

Could it be that you just have an empty room at a specific time and just need something to fill it with? If that's the case, then hit me up, because I have another panel idea brewing.

Oh... That is rather insulting.

The other volunteers/staff in this thread just accept the fact that it is a thing, don't particularly go against it, but would much rather not be a part of it. Clearly glomping is just a thing some people are fond of. I'm not saying that I particularly approve of PDA, but I find it a lot more refreshing than those who always carry a storm cloud over their heads every day. :?

I too wouldn't want it to be blatantly associated with the convention. The idea of a hugging room is cute, but a little creepy at the same time. If people want the glomp circle, I'm sure it'll happen outside of con grounds. As it's happened at so many other cons before this.

I just hope that, if there is any glomping, that the receiving end is consensual about it. There are a lot of delicate costumes, and I'm sure people enjoy not having their personal bubbles destroyed by a complete stranger.

Iono... I can see both sides of the story and could potentially argue for both sides, but whatever happens happens, though I'm sure the AR isn't going to allot a time slot and a room solely for glomping.

That and I'm pretty sure the convention staff don't want to pay anyone's hospital bills. As glomping is a form of football tackling....
Be it the toss of a saber, the catch of a rifle, the blockage of colour from the flags during the final feature, or the graceful dancing through out the show, this is what makes the sport of the arts my anti-drug.

:!:

I agree this is not a good thing for AR to be associated with as the chance of an attendee getting injured is too great and a lot of people would probably be offended on having their space violated in such a violent way. :|

Thank you all for your responses!

The whole reason behind this post was that if there was interest in "glomping" and if a lot of people wanted to glomp, we could provide a safe, guideline based, monitored area in the convention where people are free to glomp. Since the response to this has been generally negative (and so far, no responses), then it has come to our attention that we might not require a room at all for glomping.

Again, thank you all for your insight. That means, the Rules and Regulations apply throughout the convention - so glomping will not be allowed and is not permitted. For more information, please see our Rules and Regulations.

Best Regards all!
