Discussion about, promotion for, and general discussion of events

Postby devianttide » Sun Dec 18, 2011 10:21 pm

I haven't received a response from the person in charge of events in the last month in a half and I know they might be busy so I thought I might see if any admins that frequent the forums may be able to help me answer a few of my questions. If possible I would like to resolve these issues soon since I will not have the time to work much on this during the start school again in January.

Hi devianttide,

Sorry about the lack of response as of late. We are essentially quite busy in the various areas of the convention planning, but if you do have any questions regarding this, please forward them to me (jeremy@animerevolution.ca) and I'll see what I can find out for you.

In the meantime, we are still working out the weapons policy, and need to work with the convention centre to come to a fair agreement on all weaponry involved, foam, wood, plastic or otherwise, to ensure that all safety rules are met throughout the various parts of the convention, including all of the events. I'm sorry it's taking so long, we just need to be clear on everything before we post it and therefore respond accordingly.

Thank you and it seems you've garnered quite the amount of interest for your event, so I'm hoping everything works out for you and that this can go ahead!

Thanks,

Sign up is now open! The form is in the second post so be sure to fill it out soon. When we get enough people, I'll be having practice sessions to have everyone learn what not to do and try things out for yourselves. I look forward to seeing you all at the tournament!

I would like to say that once we have at least 10 people signed up for competing that I will be starting introduction and practice sessions on the last saturday of every month. So if we can get 6 more people signed up, we can have practices starting in February!

I wouldn't mind trying this out. But... whereabouts would you be having the practice sessions? o:

I'm looking around to see if there are cheap rental places that we can have practices in since I'm sure city authorities wouldn't take a liking to people hitting each other with things regardless of if they're foam or not.

...A random deserted grassy park where other people won't be bothered. Obstruct nothing, do nothing that other people will complain about(excessive noise, litter, that sort of stuff), and make it obvious that it's a safe event where it's just a game. I'm fairly sure that this is more safe than people running around and shooting each other with bb guns, and nerf guns in some cases =.=;
