Yes.
YES.
The best of ideas. I approve. I know it's just "words", but the wording of an event, I find, can make a HUGE difference. It'll also get more people (like me) interested in going, since a dance party sounds like fun, while a rave sounds like it could lead to a potentially undesired situation (and I'm "good" girl and try to stay away from that sort of thing. Yes I'm boring, I know.).

I like the sounds of dance party... edm party...

If rave is a bad thing, we can opt to stay away from it. We are a family friendly environment so we will endeavor to keep things safe!

Raves aren`t necessarily bad, it was all ages at AN, although I don`t think I saw anyone under 16.

They also had a Saturday Night Dance Party in addition to the rave on friday, maybe we can do both. OOH and a Cosplay ball, that would be fun.

I honestly like calling it a rave sounds cooler.

I think it's more about what the word "Rave" implies, rather than the actual details of the event.

"Dance" is fine, IMO.

I know its just words, but to me the word "dance" just brings me back to elementary school. I've never been to anything that had the word "dance" in it that was overly exciting or had the music volume turned past 4, but that's just MY boring life lol. I know some "ravers" who simply refer to the raves as "parties" that's why I made that suggestion. Bring the dancers, bring the ravers, turn the volume up and have a party!

I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't care if the word "dance" makes you think that it'll be boring. Throw party in it. Whatever. But honestly, the word rave does not have positive connotations. The origins of a rave is an acid house party, and honestly? That is no a proud origin. Many people, myself included, do not feel comfortable or safe with that idea. And honestly? I believe that having people feeling safe with an event that doesn't have a negative connotation is more important than possibly having some people think that an event could be 'boring' or 'uneventful'.

If you think what a dance is called will make a diffrence to safty then your problem shouldn't be with the word rave but with the staff because there in charge of safty not the name of the dance.

I'm not really concerned with the safety of the event, since I'm confident that the staff will be able to manage the event effectively, but I don't think you're understanding what the word "Rave" implies. Scaff already stated that well enough, so I don't see the need for me to reiterate it. It's not really the best public image that you want to portray, and I'm not sure how trusting most parents would be if their children were going somewhere that involved a rave.
