Discussion about, promotion for, and general discussion of events

Because this would in turn defeat the purpose of a Anime Cosplay Parade.

I think you are missing the point here.

What is the point of a cosplay parade then? If it is to highlight the cosplays of everyone involved, then what makes it any different than simply being at the con in the first place? Seems to me like this is extremely redundant.

In YOUR opinion you may not feel that this is needed, but to other attendees, maybe this is something they would like to see.

I believe that CirqueCosplay17 originally stated:
As something to do a lead up before the cosplay competition could we have a parade of cosplayers? Of course I'd love to be in the front spinning my rifle or flag for that.
In my opinion, It seems like its just an idea to further highlight peoples costumes with more attention, music, fun and a parade style event before the Cosplay Competition. If there are alot of attendees who would want to do this. Then it Sounds like a fun idea to me.

I think if you make this much shorter than what you're wanting to it could maybe work. Have it a parade of 2 or 3 songs at most and only on one floor. Trying to do this everywhere and for as long as you want to would frankly just be annoying. I also don't suggest doing any drill at the front. If people aren't paying attention it can be dangerous, and as much as you'd like to think people will be aware well, nope, not always. I've had many people walk into my wings and larger props before, and they were stationary. Also, trying to get people who have no experience doing so to "march" in step and time is not going to happen.

Well, OP did say a remix/mash-up of many songs, so it'd be something like taking the chorus of said songs and just mashing it all up together. That way, it would probably be the length of 2-3 songs (say 10-13 minutes).

I still don't see the point of this. Between the cosplay contest, the photoshoots, and the hundreds upon hundreds of cameras going off everywhere at all times, why do we need another opportunity to "show off" our costumes? Isn't wearing it around all day in a sea of cameras enough exposure already? If a costume isn't getting as much attention as someone would like, doesn't that mean that they just need to make a better costume next time?

Where's my like button.

Another problem with this is it has extreme potential to ruin someones costume that they've worked countless hours on, even more than usual. All it takes is one idiot not paying attention and there goes a costume. You can say "oh you run that risk anywhere" as much as you want but when you concentrate cosplayers and have them dancing and moving you're just exacerbating it.

gobbs24061, twtmc, please refrain from starting a flame war (it's going to turn into one if this continues).
If you have any concerns or complaints, you can personally PM the OP about it. Let's just keep this thread all about the ideas and brainstorming, okay?

EDIT:
And also, OP's going to make rules and regulations for the event if it gets through.

Disagreeing with someone is not "flaming". This is a forum for discussion. Part of a discussion is addressing those that disagree with you. If you have any concerns or complaints about this matter, you can personally start up a newsletter or blog (without comments enabled) so that nobody can voice their criticisms.

To whoever is disagreeing with me about this, thank you for voicing your concerns, so I guess I will not be asking you for help; unless you want to suggest choreography, logistics or music, or even help plan this thing.

Sgt: I don't really necessarily have any rules and regulations in place as of right now but if you want to help figure that out that would be le awesome! :D

So if you have music mixes ready to go on hand, please send them to me at trevorogorman@shaw.ca and I will do my best to make a CD.

Also: if anyone has portable speakers or a method of carrying a loud boombox that would be great: also: would it be better to have a sign up list or just have people come in and join as the parade is going?
Be it the toss of a saber, the catch of a rifle, the blockage of colour from the flags during the final feature, or the graceful dancing through out the show, this is what makes the sport of the arts my anti-drug.
