VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Do you want to staff/volunteer? Here's some information for you.

Postby Candolf » Tue Jul 26, 2011 10:13 am

Are you interested in Volunteering for Anime Revolution 2012?

Volunteers are the livelihood of any good Anime convention. They are the sails that push us forward and the glue that keeps us together. Without the help of volunteers, Anime conventions would be almost impossible to run. Not everyone is "cut out" to be a volunteer though. It requires dedication, heart, hard work, and determination. In return though, it offers friendship, satisfaction, memories, and free admission!

Volunteers do whatever is necessary to keep the Anime Revolution ship afloat. Some responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

* Registration
* Checking Badges
* Running tech (ie projectors, laptops, dvd-players)
* Simply Running around grabbing supplies and replenishing water
* Anything to help lend a hand to a fellow Anime Revolution friend.

AR is currently looking for Volunteers so please signup at this form:

I'm very interested in volunteering. However, are volunteers allowed to cosplay? That's what's holding me back.

Volunteers are allowed to cosplay =) but depending on what you cosplay, we may have to arrange you to do other duties for your own safety. It is also not wise to be in a vary uncomfortable costume for 8 hours =), then again, you can always bring a change of cloths.

Thank you, looks like I'll give it a shot. If you're wondering, it's a pink butler outfit and a mask.

What if we don't have any experiences? Can we still apply to be a staff or a volunteer?
*sighs* I'm an inexperienced staff member. :( :P
I just wanna learn new skills in the anime industry. Can you guys help train me? :) :D

I'd promise I'll do my best to support the Anime Revolution Staff Members Team! ;)

Here's just a quick reply to your question =) just quoting from Mune on the other thread that we have on the same subject

PS: What if I never had any previous experience with anime convention? Does it mean I would be less likely to be selected?

Hi Semi and thank you for registering!!! The experience part is for any volunteering experiences, management experience, handy trades or knowledge and customer service experiences. This is important to us because of many reasons:

1. we need to set a chain of command, and to do that we need to see if you are capable and willing to be a team leader.
2. If need be ask you to change task that is not selected on your preference since you have experience or knowledge we need in another task.
3. Determine what training is needed to do your task.

A chain of command is vary important. With a convention this size, the management team cannot be all places at once. Therefore we need people who can take charge to determine the severity of the issue to either contact management or minimize and fix it. A person with experience will know what they are doing, and is much better at teaching and coordinating others to do what they need to do. In the end we are here to have fun but remember people pay to get into this event, therefore they are our guests and we need to treat them like one. Hence whither you have prior experience in customer service or not, we will teach you what we expect.

No prior experience :) ? Don't worry this is a good thing, because you will not have any bad habits and we can train and teach you many things. As for not being selected because of experience is highly no unless you are a vary gloomy person who is trying to do harm to people around you. I've been in the hospitality industry for over 5 years in three different properties from up scale 4 diamond hotels to 2 diamond. My positions vary from front of the house to back, but mainly my experience is in Banquets/conventions. I also got my diploma in Hospitality management =).
