Do you want to staff/volunteer? Here's some information for you.

Just got about 6-10 people interested in voluteering. Actually, I believe around two or three of them already signed up for volunteer.
The rest are still in consideration.

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong thread but I have some interest in applying for a staff position at AR 2012 but I am slightly apprehensive as to what will be expected of staff members in terms of schedule flexibility and weight of the workload for the coming year. I have already submitted an application for a volunteer position but I yearn for a position where I can contribute more to the making of the convention and hence my eagerness to apply as a staff member. I must confess that I have no experience in running an animé convention however, I do have a burning passion to learn new skills and a desire to help others.

Cheers,
Deaf

Thank you Deaf for voicing your concern and interest in becoming a staff member. Staff members are required to show up for monthly meetings and contribute to organizing and planning of the events. We understand everyone's schedules are different, therefore not being able to attend a couple of meetings is acceptable as long as you make an effort to know what you missed. During the convention, staff members are required to fulfill their assigned tasks and do what is necessary for a smooth convention. Every staff member's dedication level is different. We know some people work two to three jobs and barely have anytime to help plan, but as long as they show dedication and will be able to help out during the three days that AR will be open, we can manage something. If we feel that they are not showing enough dedication and input, we will notify them about the option of becoming a volunteer.

As long as you have the passion to learn and the desire to help others, we will to our best ability provide you with the knowledge and experience you seek. Learning never ends, therefore this con will be a great learning experience for not just yourself but for our team as well.

Thank you Mune for your swift response and clarification on what is expected of the staff members. I have just submitted my staff position application and will be eagerly awaiting your decision. I am excited to participate in the success of this event regardless of whether I come as a member of the staff or as a volunteer.

Cheers,
Deaf

Edit: I have come to realize that I submitted an application for a staff position and a volunteer position. Is there someone I should contact in order to inform them of the redundant volunteer submission? I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you Mune and the rest of the AR team for accepting my application! I am looking forward to working closely with everyone in the coming year to make AR a huge success. However, aside from my first aid responsibilities, would it be possible for me to take on a staff position in the planning process of the convention? I apologize if this is asking for too much and will respect any decision you make.

Cheers,
Deaf
