It's actually quite decent, actually.

But the the amusement begins to fade off into the distance.....

ANYHOW:
Alive!
It's a one-shot.
And it's NSFW at parts.

I've read Alive! myself and it's quite the read. The artwork is a little unusal however and might not be appealing to everyone, but the plot and ideas it represents is amazing.

Here's a list of my personal favourites for both genders:
Anything by CLAMP really: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, xxxHOLiC, etc.
Liar Game
Hotel (one shot) - MUST READ FOR ALL SCI FI LOVERS.
Island (one shot)
Deep Love (series) - Very explicit.
Monster

my odd little list : )

-Immortal Rain (love that art style...) cute action.
-Dorohedoro. this series is weird and intense lol. some sort of sci-fi i guess.
-Freesia. intese. lol
-Sleepy residents of birdcage manor. cute i guess.
-watashitachi no shiawase na jikan. sad pretty story.
-Superior. action comedy.
-Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. lots of fillers but totally cool anyways. awesome main story arcs.
-Godchild (count cain), Ningyo kyuutei gakudan, Ludwig Kakumei, Angel sanctuary...and everything else by Kaori Yuki. She is my god.

must i add Gintama? You should all know it!! :p

I read Tsubasa and xxxHolic by CLAMP. xxxHolic was genious I love it. It was a little confusing at the end though, but compared to Tsubasa (which totally mindkilled me) it was more understandable. Tsubasa was good till the end I was really confused lol. I liked Gohou Drug too. Currently reading CLAMPs RG Veda.

I loved reading Superior! There's also "Superior Cross" which continues off the storyline for Superior for anyone interested.
Cosplay Plans:
Storm (The Legend of the Sun Knight) [Novel Design]
Sayaka Miki [Magi Form] (PMMM)

Legal Drug was either dropped by CLAMP or is in a very, very, very long hiatus. That series hasn't updated for as long as I've been a CLAMP fan. :/
XXXHolic isn't over yet. And it's not THAT confusing given that it's done by CLAMP.
Tsubasa was just [insert incoherent words here]. It was so nice until CLAMP started to do those plot twists. I resent those plot twists. And I still have no clear idea what actually happened. It was like a blur.
...... Now that I think about it, only their old ones are even relatively understandable... With the exception of Gate 8 and Kobato! (Though I have a feeling Gate 8 won't be understandable for long..... )

Oh wait. Then it was probably the english or chinese translators that dropped legal drugs. Though I doubt it. I remember reading somewhere that CLAMP was on hiatus with everything while they worked on Tsubasa and XXXHolic.
I'm not 100% sure about XXXHolic being completed or not...
SPOILER

I basically dropped it after Yuuko appeared in Watanuki's dream. Actually, I lost interest in it after Watanuki went all doom and gloom. Of course, now I'm going to check my chinese translators just so I can complete the four years I spent on that series.

Bumping this because I need some manga to read... (shocking, I know)
Preferrably dark, psychological, horror, seinen, josei, comedy, mystery

Preferrably not mecha, fantasy/vampire-warewolves stuff, History, martial arts, sports

Please don't let the main focus be romance

List of things that I really don't want to go through because I have probably already read or is just not my cup of tea:
Shueisha/Akamaru Jump/Jump things. I practically read that whole company.
Nothing from mangafox or mangareader. I've pretty much read all the things I want to read from there and skimmed the others I had interest in there.
Margrate. Yes, I read shoujo back in the day.
Nothing mainstream.
Nothing like Higurashi or Umineko.

I'm completely fine with shonen-ai, shoujo-ai, straight.
A tad fickle with yaoi and yuri (tend to skip the pages)
Just no hentai. I'm content with having virgin eyes.

To make recommendations easier, these are the types of manga I'm looking for:
Monster
A Bullet or A Lollipop
Our Happy Times
Coelocanth
Doll Star
Akumetsu
Junji Ito style manga.
Sumomo style manga.

Oh, and please no guro. None of those things.
