A few have asked “who is Candolf”? Some have accused that I am perhaps incapable of pulling off a convention of this magnitude. Put simply, I cannot pull off a convention of this magnitude…alone. Without a team, it is IMPOSSIBLE to accomplish such a feat. As I read between the lines of certain comments and questions from those who have expressed concern, I feel more inclined to say that they wish only to know, “why you/who do you think you are?”
This is my address, not to those who are in dire need to know my name, but to the loyal that have been supportive from day one. And I know you are out there. You are both quiet, yet attentive, and I have noticed. Of the thousands of visitors that have come across our site, only a small percentage have questioned my qualifications. Some of you have already met me, some have known me for years, and some are simply faithful due to their love of Anime.
This is not an address to prove if I’m qualified (I think the actions of my team and I will answer that specific question in due time). This is for the volunteers, staff, and community that believe in us. This is for those that genuinely want to know who I am out of curiosity and/or compassion.
Without further adieu, my real name is Can Ngo. I am a competent entrepreneur in the field of Information Technology. I built my business from the ground up 10 years ago. My company specializes in deploying customized solutions for complex technological problems. This wasn’t always the case, but like any technology, we needed to scale and evolve to suit our needs.
I have been project lead for jobs involving 100+ sub-trades to less than five. I have deployed networks, built enterprise level servers, and consulted for many years now. I have attended and been a part of many technological conventions during the past 10 years. I have been and worked with/at CES, Bluestar, Vartech, and Intel sponsored conventions in the past. I have an eye for efficiency and although new to the Anime convention planning world, I’m not completely in unfamiliar waters. During these years I have garnered a plethora of experience and contacts that I intend to draw upon to insure the success of this convention.
Here is a list of a few the companies that I have done work for in the past 10 years. They may provide trade references upon request: Dairy Queen, Petro Canada, Smeets Law Inc, C.R. Risk Management, Marks Marine Pharmacy, Pho Van, DG Construction Inc. (Principle contractor for McDonalds Canada).
So please, for those who would question and accuse/doubt/flame/insult me, know that you are also doing this to those that follow me and our revolution. This is a group effort and while I don’t mind you having your opinions about me, I will not tolerate slander about my team and their qualifications. Any amount of money that you might risk pales in comparison to the risk and effort that the team devotes. So while you may have hundreds to lose, how am I to place a price on their efforts and dreams of a successful convention?
Always keep in mind that our success is your success. We WANT you to be happy. We WANT you to have a well organized event. And most of all, we WANT you to have FUN!
Our team is like a family. But don't take my word for it, ask the other team members that have just met us. Ask them how they feel and join us if you'd like.
Fellow friends and team members, please feel free to submit what you wish to share about yourself and your experience. Do so out of your own volition and not to appease the doubters. Do so to re-affirm those that believe, and care to actually know.
