Meet the TEAM

General questions and discussion about the convention

Postby Candolf » Tue Aug 23, 2011 12:34 am

A few have asked “who is Candolf”? Some have accused that I am perhaps incapable of pulling off a convention of this magnitude. Put simply, I cannot pull off a convention of this magnitude…alone. Without a team, it is IMPOSSIBLE to accomplish such a feat. As I read between the lines of certain comments and questions from those who have expressed concern, I feel more inclined to say that they wish only to know, “why you/who do you think you are?

This is my address, not to those who are in dire need to know my name, but to the loyal that have been supportive from day one. And I know you are out there. You are both quiet, yet attentive, and I have noticed. Of the thousands of visitors that have come across our site, only a small percentage have questioned my qualifications. Some of you have already met me, some have known me for years, and some are simply faithful due to their love of Anime.

This is not an address to prove if I’m qualified (I think the actions of my team and I will answer that specific question in due time). This is for the volunteers, staff, and community that believe in us. This is for those that genuinely want to know who I am out of curiosity and/or compassion.

Without further adieu, my real name is Can Ngo. I am a competent entrepreneur in the field of Information Technology. I built my business from the ground up 10 years ago. My company specializes in deploying customized solutions for complex technological problems. This wasn’t always the case, but like any technology, we needed to scale and evolve to suit our needs.

I have been project lead for jobs involving 100+ sub-trades to less than five. I have deployed networks, built enterprise level servers, and consulted for many years now. I have attended and been a part of many technological conventions during the past 10 years. I have been and worked with/at CES, Bluestar, Vartech, and Intel sponsored conventions in the past. I have an eye for efficiency and although new to the Anime convention planning world, I’m not completely in unfamiliar waters. During these years I have garnered a plethora of experience and contacts that I intend to draw upon to insure the success of this convention.

Here is a list of a few the companies that I have done work for in the past 10 years. They may provide trade references upon request: Dairy Queen, Petro Canada, Smeets Law Inc, C.R. Risk Management, Marks Marine Pharmacy, Pho Van, DG Construction Inc. (Principle contractor for McDonalds Canada).

So please, for those who would question and accuse/doubt/flame/insult me, know that you are also doing this to those that follow me and our revolution. This is a group effort and while I don’t mind you having your opinions about me, I will not tolerate slander about my team and their qualifications. Any amount of money that you might risk pales in comparison to the risk and effort that the team devotes. So while you may have hundreds to lose, how am I to place a price on their efforts and dreams of a successful convention?

Always keep in mind that our success is your success. We WANT you to be happy. We WANT you to have a well organized event. And most of all, we WANT you to have FUN!

Our team is like a family. But don't take my word for it, ask the other team members that have just met us. Ask them how they feel and join us if you'd like.

Fellow friends and team members, please feel free to submit what you wish to share about yourself and your experience. Do so out of your own volition and not to appease the doubters. Do so to re-affirm those that believe, and care to actually know.

Also, here is Julie Schaecher. She is also an extension of our team and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to us. She works for Experient and is a welcomed addition to the team! She is and has been involved with some of the top anime cons. She is more behind the scenes but I'm sure if you ask around, her company/name is known.

Julie Schaecher wrote:“I joined Experient in 2005 bringing with me 10 years of event planning experience in the association, religious, and youth sports markets. Serving as President and CFO of several non-profit associations has provided me with expertise in the area of non-profit association management as well as event planning on a local, state, and national level. As a motivational speaker I have had the opportunity to meet and speak to people from all walks of life and always enjoy making new friends. My greatest treasure is my family. For the past 20 years, my husband and I have enjoyed raising our 3 beautiful children in sunny San Diego, California. “

Hi,

I’m Rizzaj on the forums but Reynold in real life. I have known Can for over 5 years and can attest to his leadership and experience. I am his Vice President and will follow him into the depths of anime hell, should he command lol.

On a serious note, I am a Microsoft Certified Professional and graduated top of my class. I have worked with Can on many of these projects and will work hard to see this convention a major success.

Hello all,

My name is Kimberly-Anne and I am super excited to be a part of Anime Revolution! Although I have yet to meet Candolf in person, (which should change hopefully soon!) I have complete faith in him and his team to run a successful anime convention!

I currently work for the biggest major payment solutions provider here in Canada. I work as a GiftCard Fulfillment Administrator and I handle a wide range of responsibilities ranging from Customer Service to Credit Card Fraud. Prior to this, I worked as a Conference Director for Kids Help Phone; helping arrange new recruits for Student Ambassadors in the Lower Mainland. I have also volunteered for Animethon in the past when I used to live in Edmonton :)

I look forward to help serving you all :)

It’s me Mune aka Ken! I am Director of Ops. I have already met a few of you but am excited to meet more. For those who don’t know me, I’m a fun person to be around with. When things need to get done I will be there till the end. Professionalism is a second nature for me since it is required at all times in my occupation. I have obtained my diploma in Hospitality Management and have worked in the hospitality/hotel industry for over 4+ years. I have executed and participated in many Banquets, Conventions, Receptions, Weddings, and more. I’m capable and comfortable managing people, time, and space. Out of work I help plan and organize parties and events for friends. I have a large network of professionals in the hospitality industry and I intend to use them for AR. I adapt to change and learn quickly.

That's an impressive resume. I never really question your background before, but with this, I am sure that Anime Revolution will be a smashing success on it's maiden voyage.

Wow, it looks like AR is bringing in some serious muscle to the Vancouver Con scene, including consultants.

And I noticed that the little green arrow, represents staff??
