This is a rather odd question, but is "Pedobear" cosplays acceptable? I really want to wear mine without getting into a lot of "trouble".

Hey Reiko,

To what I remember It "Should" be allowed as long as it is just a pedobear costume and it is not demonstrating or showing anything innapropriate. But let me double check with our operations Director just to make sure and I will get back to you. Thank you for your patience.

Hi Reiko and Sgt.!

I can help answer the question :)
As long as your costume does not exhibit anything inappropiate or explicit; then it is fine to wear. All in all, it's about common sense. Anime Revolution is a family-friendly event and if you feel that your costume may be unsuitable or too explicit, then it likely is. Our staff and volunteers are given the right to kindly ask an attendee to change if their cosplay/costume is deemed innappropiate and/or explicit.

Let me know if you have any questions :)

Oh okay! Thank you so much for the response.
I'll be wearing my "pedobear" cosplay during the convention. However, if anyone feels uncomfortable, I'll kindly take it off. :D

I have read through the policy and I believe I have gotten the gist of it. However, I think that safe is better than sorry and I'm going to ask about the prop for my friends costume before she spends the money making it.

The costume she has chosen is Temari from Naruto and she plans to make a full size version of Temari's fan. This prop could be considered oversized when fully extended and since the whole point is to display it for photos and such, if it had to be peace-bonded closed or some such thing there would be no point in bringing it in the first place. I am aware that there is no specific rule against this prop but I'd rather play it safe and ask.

Thanks Much!

My apologies for the late reply, I have been away for a week.

@shinrei_hotaru: For the fan as long as it was only open for photos and not walking around and poking people in the eyes because i don't know how big the one you are building is but i am sure it is quite large. Then yes you may bring it. As long as its not completely made out of metal, i understand the frame of it maybe. Yes you may use it.

I have a question.

Under the Rules section, it states that "For safety concerns, all attendees are required to wear footwear (no socks or bare feet) on convention grounds"

I am assuming that this is a Vancouver Convention Centre rule.

Either way, my cosplay involves a character that has bare feet. It will ruin the effect of the cosplay if I have to wear shoes. However, I am planning to do the Zombie Walk in that outfit, and there is no way I was going to walk on the street bare foot either.

Right now I am looking at cutting the soles off a pair of sandals and affixing it to the bottom of my feet.

Does this count as "footwear"? Technically it has as much foot coverage as a pair of flip-flops.

Otherwise, how can I satisfy the footwear rule while still appearing to have bare feet? Thanks.
