Depends.

While she is undoubtedly attractive and a highly successful cosplay model, what exactly might she be able to contribute in terms of convention programming?

Yes. I assume she has a substantial worldwide following and could definitely help put a first year con on the map. I personally know many local fans who would love to meet her.

I believe she has been known to host panels and do charitable giveaways / fundraising.

I also think she does lots of her own cosplay creations.... so maybe something to that effect?

Don't have her do cosplay related panels. I repeat, do NOT have her run panels on cosplaying. Look at her costumes. Seriously, take 5 minutes to go look at them and ignore her body for a second. They are not about quality, they are about showing a LOT of skin, even if the source material doesn't call for it. 90% of her costumes are just bras with a few simple things added to them or plain street clothes with a few simple things added to them. Her entire notoriety has been built on her being attractive, not her ability to make costumes. I don't think she has ever so much as ENTERED a cosplay contest, let alone won one. She is a glorified booth babe and gets hired as such. If there is anything she should be running panels on, it should be workout routines and things of that sort.

Apparently you haven't seen her GoW cosplay. That is quality IMO. What's wrong with having a celebrity who is well known for their cosplay do anything related to cosplay? If they know the industry, they will give good insight on it regardless.

- She has never entered a cosplay contest
- There is no "industry" for cosplay. There are competitions which, as I said, she has never entered
- Her GOW costume is very very much out of line with the rest of her costumes. I am 99.999% sure it was designed and created by someone else. She has never claimed to have made it as far as I can tell.

She is not well known for her abilities to make costumes. She is a model, not a costumer. Having her run a panel on costume making would be an absolute joke. I'm not trying to say anything about her skills and abilities elsewhere, but there is nothing to demonstrate she is a seasoned, accomplished costume creator.

**Edited due to some horrifying misunderstanding that I may have caused (in which case, I must apologize beforehand to all those who has read the unedited and unpolished version). D:

Okay, so I may agree with twtmc on many points because half of what he said were pretty much my first impression of her when I first found her cosplays. (I prefer to have androgynous people cosplaying more, but then again, who am I to tell people what to like. Also, I'm a biased person so you can just pretty much ignore this bracketed part.) And especially at the "body appeal" too, but one must take note that who we invite aren't solely based on who we want, but more on who pending or interested soon-to-be attendees wants. If inviting her is one way to capture the interests of the many people out there who don't know about this con yet and bring up our reputation along with "fame", of course we'll take the advantage and use it-- And the more variety, the better, right?
I mean, I'm sure we could try contacting the pro cosplayers such as Yuegene, Touya Hibiki, and Ringo Mitsuki for example, but the problem with that is that they may or may not be able to understand English (Yuegene can, but Touya, no) and that they live quite the distance (as in half a globe) away from us while Jessica here, is in our neighboring country. How is this an issue? Longer flights, unfamiliar places, longer preparations, etc.
Plus, the chance of actually having overseas, nonetheless famous people, accepting an invitation to some convention that's only in it's first year isn't really that favorable as we are only just an embryo compared to the older cons at this moment. Of course, in no way am I saying that our convention is small. I'm only stating that even though without having all, if not, majority of the guests being overseas/Asians/Japanese, we can still make this con quite on the successful side compared to many of the other cons out there.

I hope the bolded part cleared out any misunderstanding that it gave.

On a side note, to the many people out there wondering (... Many of my friends that asked me about this), we do have a budget for this grand project. Shocking, I know.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't that I don't think she should be a guest (quite the contrary, she has quite a following), I just don't think she should be doing panels about cosplay. Q&A, stuff about media attention, something along those lines I think would be very properly placed.
