I'm looking around to see if there are cheap rental places that we can have practices in since I'm sure city authorities wouldn't take a liking to people hitting each other with things regardless of if they're foam or not.

...A random deserted grassy park where other people won't be bothered. Obstruct nothing, do nothing that other people will complain about(excessive noise, litter, that sort of stuff), and make it obvious that it's a safe event where it's just a game. I'm fairly sure that this is more safe than people running around and shooting each other with bb guns, and nerf guns in some cases =.=;

But with the rain starting to come in, a muddy practice ground wouldn't be the best terrain to be on. I wouldn't want people to slip and get mud on their clothes.

That was just a suggestion =3 Although I am totally up for a sheltered/indoor location...

Hey Devianttide,

Just finally got a day to catch up on posts on the forum.
First of all What a very cool event. I am very intrigued I am tempted to show off my Bushido skills and compete :D

As the Team Leader over viewing the Anime Evolution Attendee Services Team and over viewing the safety and security of the attendees, staff and the convention I had a couple questions for you.

1.) In the video I noticed that you have an area blocked off with rope. You mentioned roughly 7x 5 meters so no one enters the ring also with soft matts in case people fall.

Question: Is this the same type of set-up you are planning on having?

2.)You mentioned that you are bringing your own "Foam Swords". Either a Senior Attendee Services Team Member or I will have to inspect the foam swords and peace bond them to ensure the safety of all participants. Although during the event I would say that the Peace Bonding could come off as for the duration of the battles so it doesn't get in the way. From the sounds of it this seems like no issue at all as yes depending on the foam or material it shouldn't hurt or cause bruising or injury.

Question: At some point maybe during one of your practice sessions could I come out to a) check out some awesome practice rounds and b) check out the foam weapons ahead of time?

3.) As for first aid I will discuss with the other directors and chairman about how they would like to handle this as myself and other Senior AST Members have First Aid certificates, but I will get back to you on that.

Question: Do you know of anyone being injured in the past in an event like this before?

4.)Your rules look good as in for contact, playing the game, etc. You mentioned there is "judging" done. I also noticed a referee in the middle of the fighters/ contenders

Questions: Are you judging the fights or is it a panel? and are you the referee in the middle of the fighters and contenders

Thanks for your time. If you have any questions please feel free to message me privately, or post back.

This looks like a fun event! Thanks!

Yup I'm planning on having this same setup as well. Though based on where this event will be held, the size of the ring itself may change.

When we finalize what foam swords we will be using, I'll be sure to ask you to check them prior to the convention itself in case there is anything wrong. I've actually asked Jeremy about if I could have our swords checked out before the convention, but I will keep in contact with you once the swords are decided. And yes, practice rounds are for all to watch or even try out yourselves.

3.) As for first aid I will discuss with the other directors and chairman about how they would like to handle this as myself and other Senior AST Members have First Aid certificates, but I will get back to you on that.

I have not heard of anyone being injured in the past before from an event like this, but there are instances where people do slip or trip and injure themselves. However, I do not see this as a likely event to happen here but it doesn't hurt to be too safe.

4.)Your rules look good as in for contact, playing the game, etc. You mentioned there is "judging" done. I also noticed a referee in the middle of the fighters/ contenders

Me and two other organizers will be judges and I have another who will be a referee.

This is a note to all participants and potential participants for this event, as soon as it is done, there will be a waiver form that everyone will need to have signed prior to actually participating in this event. More info on that will be provided at a future date.
